Who is Stephanie Moses?
I am a self care motivational speaker and I am a mother, a grandmother, a daughter, a wife, a hospitality worker, a friend and so much more. I was born and raised in Anderson, South Carolina and it was there that I raised my four children into beautiful adults. As a single mother, one of the hardest lessons I had to learn was how to prioritize Stephanie and her needs,
In the beginning I felt guilty. It felt selfish to deliberately take care of myself first, but if being a mother teaches you one thing, it is that you can not adequately pour into anyone else when you are empty. I was sick and juggling three jobs, and four children. I was burnt out and mentally depleted. But I thank the younger Stephanie and the sacrifice she made to prioritize her needs. In the end, I believe it made me a better mother. It made me a better nurturer. And because of this, I found myself working in hospitality for so many years because, for me, it feels natural to want to take care of others. I had to find that balance for others and myself. What are my needs? What are my goals? How does this relate to being able to nurture others? So here I am: three states, two cities, and many lessons later, I now live in the city I dreamed of as a child and I am constantly working toward my goals because I finally learned that I matter too.
What is your self-empowerment routine?
In lieu of what's mentioned in the first question, I am empowered by the methods I use to take care of myself. How well I care for myself is directly linked to my confidence. I do not feel confident and empowered when I neglect my needs. I place my needs into six categories: mental, emotional, physical, relational, spiritual and financial, I believe that I have to be fully committed to things that make myself better everyday, so I try to maintain a routine that taps into and strengthens each of the categories listed. So first, every morning I pray and meditate to center my mind for the day. Then I drink warm lemon water to balance my body for the day. I like to exercise regularly, and I aim to do that around three to four times weekly. I practice good eating habits and try to feed my body good things so that it thrives. I also practice mindfulness and mindful thinking so that my soul is balanced. I maintain a skin care routine so that my skin remains its healthiest. And while I may not be able to practice my routine everyday, I do make most of my routine a daily priority. The important component to keeping a routine is balance; I learned to start small while balancing all of the components that keep me healthy and centered. Building small practices and gaining a sense of self-awareness in identifying my needs has helped build my confidence. When you start living by values and passions, you are embodying your best self and will be much more confident because of it. Recognize what really matters and what is important to you.
